The Benefits of Rose In Your Skincare

Posted by DeeAnn Tracy on

Hello beautiful!

Roses are not only beautiful to look at, but they also offer so many beauty-enhancing benefits, especially for the skin.

There are so many ways roses can be incorporated into your skincare routine. Roses can be found in a variety of products and listed as ingredients such as:

  • Rosewater
  • Rose distillate
  • Rose essential oil
  • Rosehip seed oil

In this article, we will take a more in-depth look at some of the benefits that roses offer and what they can do for your skin. At Peak Scents, we offer a full range of natural products that include roses as one of their main ingredients. It’s one of our favorites and we’re sure it will become one of yours too!

Rose is a natural antibacterial element making it a great treatment for acne or acne prone skin. Since it is a natural product, it is ideal for people with sensitive skin too. Many acne products contain alcohol in them, which can strip the skin of all moisture. While this may sound like a perk, your skin may overcompensate and produce more oil. Combining its antibacterial effects with its cleansing properties, makes it a great addition to your face washes and cleansers that you use every day.

Roses may be red, but they can help calm redness in our skin. Rose oil can actually help reduce the overall inflammation of spots and redness on the skin. It produces a soothing feeling that can improve the skin’s appearance and texture, addressing issues caused by rosacea and eczema.

A fun and easy way to create a rose face mask at home is to take about 8-10 rose petals and soak them in 3-4 tablespoons of water for a few hours. Then mash the petals in the water and add 3 tablespoons of honey. Mix it all together and apply it to your entire face for 15-30 minutes. Rise with cold water, and your skin should feel refreshed and hydrated.

Rose contains a high amount of vitamin C, which is one of the most important ingredients you can incorporate into your skin. Vitamin C helps protect the skin from damage, especially from the sun. This is extremely important since the summer months are upon us!

Rose is commonly marketed for dry skin because of its hydrating elements. However, do not let this deter you away if you have another skin type. The natural oils in roses help lock in moisture into the skin giving your skin a smoother appearance all day. Roses also have natural sugars in their petals that help give your skin that soothing feeling that lasts all day.

Naturally Fragrant

We don’t need to dive too far into this one, however, roses are known for their natural scent, which is why many natural beauty products include rose for its aroma. Give your skin a break from all the artificial and chemical fragrances that could be causing your skin to become unhappy.

Roses also have aromatherapy benefits that can be used to help calm and soothe the mind. Rose petals were actually used as a staple in many ancient cultures as a medicine to help detoxify the body and calm the mind. While this doesn’t have a direct correlation to any beauty benefits, it sure does make the overall experience of using a product containing roses.

Rose can work as a natural astringent, making it a great natural toner for the skin. It helps tighten pores, restore suppleness, and gives your skin a radiant glow. Once again, many toners found on store shelves contain alcohol. Using rose based toners will help leave your skin feeling clean and smooth, not dried out.

Here at Peak Scents, we love the benefits that roses bring to our skin. We have a variety of rose products that we know you’re going to love. From rose oils, toners, cleansers, and moisturizers, we’ve created a list of some of our favorite rose products that we think will help enhance your natural beauty from the inside out!
